Whole lotta Wii
General November 28th, 2006It’s been a few days since I’ve blogged, but now that the Thanksgiving break is over, I have a whole slew of updates. On Thanksgiving Day, I brought the Wii over to Jim and Diane’s house so the whole family could try out the Wii. Wii Sports Bowling was a huge hit and may have inspired them to get a Wii of their own. Nintendo has promised somewhere around 200,000 units/week leading up to Christmas, so for those of you out there that want a Wii but missed it at launch, if you’re dedicated enough, you might be able to track one down in time for Christmas. Now on to the Wii links.
Modify your Wii to look like the classic NES.
WiiChat has some tips and tricks for the Wii. Most of these could be discovered by reading manuals, but who does that?
One tip that is absolutely essential for Zelda is turning down the built-in speaker on the Wii-Mote, because that default setting is just too dang loud for that low-quality speaker.
1up.com has posted a lengthy feature on the early hits and misses with the Wii Virtual Console, including what games they recommend purchasing (Mario 64 is the obvious choice) and what games are best left in the past.
GameVideos has a nice little video up showing how to create celebrity Miis like George W. Bush, Saddam Hussein, Hitler, Dick Cheney, and others.
And finally, this little video isn’t quite on par with the Nintendo64 kid, but it’s close.
