Videogame Money
General September 22nd, 2006For those purchasing at luanch, here’s a calculator to figure out how much scratch you need.
For those interested in Gran Turismo and Sony’s continuing efforts to ruin pretty much everything, here’s a story about how the next Gran Turismo is going to run you $1,000.

One Wii console, one controller, and two games is going to run $415 here in MN. Yikes.
Dude, that sucks.

It does come with one controller set (remote + nunchuk) and Wii Sports, but that games is designed for multiplayer, so to really enjoy it you need another controller. Figure Zelda is a no-brainer launch title, and then figure you’ll want something else to play when you don’t have two people around to play Wii Sports and you’re not in the Zelda mood. So yeah, I think I got the same dollar amount that you did. Kind of annoying that once you add in games you’re looking at it being as expensive as the premium Xbox360.

I’m still pissed that there is no Mario game being launched with the Wii. I broke that news to a coworker of mine, thereby, quote, “ruining his day”…I think he loves Mario as much as I do.
I was ready to wait until a Mario game was released, but I just don’t think I can ignore the downloadable old-school games feature. I think I’m going to have to buy it at launch.
Can we pre-order it somewhere?

You can try Amazon, but good luck with that one, because it’s the one everybody’s watching. EB Games/Gamestop hasn’t yet announced their pre-order promotion for here, but the version that they ran in Hawaii was lame – you had to trade in $50 worth of used games, and you aren’t even guaranteed one on launch day (though, presumably, the faster you got to the store, the higher your name would be on the list and the better your odds). I’m hoping they have a better promotion here on the mainland, but it hasn’t been announced yet, supposedly because Nintendo hasn’t yet told them how many consoles they’re shipping, so the stores don’t know how long to run the promotion.
I’m resigning myself to the fact I might have to spend a good portion of Saturday the 18th in line at a Best Buy or Target.

I must add that he will be spending that time in a line alone. I wait in a line for no man.
