Hello, Switchfoot. You’ve made me less pissed off.
General September 15th, 2005Tim Foreman from Switchfoot has posted on Switchfoot’s forums about the copy-protection issue. He apologizes to fans, saying that the band tried to keep copy protection off their cd but were given no choice by their label. He offers instructions for how to get their new cd onto an iPod, and mentions that a new version of iTunes compatible with their cd is due in November.
I’m still strongly opposed to this type of copy protection, and I’m still irked about the three versions of the cd (four, if you count the DualDisc version), but at least the band has addressed the copy-protection issue. Gotta give them props for responding to all the anger being voiced in their forums.

There have actually been quite a few stories about this popping up. The consensus seems to be that the group isn’t going to be in trouble, but Sony’s probably not too thrilled with them, either. Hopefully this leads them move to a label without this DRM nonsense.
